NORMANTON KNIGHTS Vs NEW EARSWICK

Normanton Knights U14's returned to league action in blistering form to crush New Earswick 50-14.Knights started the brighter with Liam Blockley crossing the whitewash  from the kick off.Further pressure on the New Earswick line saw Tom Jordan dart over followed by Brad Cook,Robbie Ward crossed twice and Liam Blockley added his second before the break with Joe Crossland slotting over two conversions to see the Knights race into a 28-4 half time lead. With Jake Green pulling the strings in the middle of the park paving the way for forwards Matty Robinson,Danny Hough and Callum Straw  to make the hard yards while Chris Marsh,Jonny Dye and Ben Martin were superb in attack showing their pace on numerous occassions.New Earswick became frustrated as the game ran away from them with the Knights adding further tries to Reece Howard,Jonny Carr and two more to Liam Blockley.Robbie Ward and Joe Crossland (2) added further conversions to round off  a great team display.Up next for the Knights is Oulton Raiders in a top of the table clash.

NORMANTON KNIGHTS Vs SKIRLAUGH BULLS

A below par performance from Normanton Knights saw them bow out of the BARLA National Cup 34-4 at the hands of Skirlaugh.There was nothing between the sides in the first half as Knights went into the break trailing by 12 points to a stronger and more physical side.The second half saw some woeful tackling by Knights to give Skirlaugh the momentum to take the game out of Knights reachbefore Liam Blockley crossed for Knights consolation try. Knights must now re-capture their excellent league form as they continue their push for promotion.

YORKSHIRE JUNIOR CHALLENGE CUP

Twelve Man Normanton Knights made a remarkable comeback to knock New Earswick out of the Yorkshire Junior  Challenge Cup 23-18 after extra time.A lack-lustre first half performance saw Knights trailing 18-4 at the break with their only points coming from a Joe Crossland try.What ever the coach said to them at half time worked a treat.In the second half New Earswick had no answer to the knights lead superbly by man of the match Brad Cook their defence held firm while they played some outstanding rugby resulting in  Robbie Ward crossing  for two tries and Ben Martin diving over to take the game into extra time.Joe Crossland slotted over a conversion.In the first period of extra time Knights kept the pressure on and Jonny Carr latched on to a superb high kick from Robbie Ward to cross the whitewash to give Knights a 22-18 lead at the end off the first period of extra time.Joe Crossland added a drop goal in the second period of extra time to see the Knights through to the next round.

CRIGGLESTONE  Vs NORMANTON KNIGHTS

Normanton Knights U14's fell to their first league defeat of the season 16-9 in an evenly
matched clash at Crigglestone All Blacks.Liam Blockley scored Knights only try in the first half with Joe Crossland landing two conversions to give Knights a slender 8-4 half time lead.Crigglestone took a 10-8 lead straight after the restart.As Normanton piled on the pressure with Brad Cook and man of the Match Robbie Ward making good yards throught but their
only points of the second half came from a drop goal to Joe Crossland to set up a grandstand finish unfortunatley a couple of penelties went against Knights and Crigglestone stole the points with a converted try in the dying seconds.

NORMANTON KNIGHTS 28  FEATHERSTONE LIONS 22

Normanton Knights U14's continued their unbeaten league run with a deserved 22-28 away victory at Featherstone Lions.In a tight first half Knights scored three tries through Jonny Dye,Liam Blockley and Jonny Carr to leave the teams level at half time.Tom Jordan was first to cross the whitewash in the second half to break the dead lock with Joe Crossland
adding the extra two.Joe Crossland then showed his pace by intercepting a Featherstone pass to go full lengh and place the ball under the sticks to
make his own conversion an easy two points.Featherstone hit back but any comeback was short lived as Robbie Ward dived over to seal the points for Normanton Knights.Brad Cook run the ball in strongly throughout while Jake Green gave an outstanding defensive display to earn him the Man of the Match award.

SEMI FINAL

WAKEFIELD DISTRICT

 

Normanton Knights U14's bowed out of the Wakefield and District Cup at the semi final stage going down 22-24 to Crigglestone All Blacks. In a close fought first half Reece Howard and Robbie Ward crossed the whitewash for Normanton with Joe Crossland adding one conversion to leave the scores 10-10 at the break. The second half started with both sides going close to
scoring before the game was held up for 20 minutes due to an injury to Normantons Reece Howard. On the restart Crigglestone were the quicker off
the mark to build up a 10 point lead but Normanton hit back with tries to Liam Blockley and Jonny Dye who dived over in the dying minutes. Man of the match Joe Crossland added two superb touchline conversions to leave Normanton traling by two points. Brad Cook , Liam Blockley and Robbie Ward went close in the dying seconds but were unable to cross for the winning points.
